the village of NOLI
To discover the village of Noli, lost yourselves among its carruggi, the typical Ligurian narrow alleys, go in search of the four towers remained from the initials 72, visit the cathedral and finally hike up to the Monte Ursino Castle, overlooking the bay from the top.
And while walking, note the decorations and the coats of arms that occasionally appear under your feet: they are symbols related to the city’s historical past.
Noli was an independent Maritime Republic for more than 600 years and its medieval historical center, enclosed by walls, testifies its glorious past still today.
A couple of addresses to keep on hand:
The historic pasticceria Scalvini, a pastry shop close to Tower of the town, where tasting the typical baci di Noli (kisses of Noli) and the pane del pescatore (fisherman’s bread), a cake that once was prepared by wives for their husbands going to sea.
And the Vescovado Restaurant, a stopover for true connoisseurs.
The Vescovado’s gourmet dishes are served in the fifteenth-century rooms of Residenza Palazzo Vescovile and during summer in its terraces, with a wonderful view on the bay.
Awarded with a Michelin star and Three Red Forks, the Vescovado proposes Ligurian and mediterranean tastings, created by the chef Giuseppe Ricchebuono.

VARIGOTTI
The village of Varigotti is a magical place, always loved by photographers and painters.
Its Saracen origin can be seen from the low and colorful houses, built right on the beach, with geometric shapes and a terrace on the roof.
Unique characteristics with respect to the region, which distinguish this so loved village and make it a taste of Africa on the Ligurian coast.
Varigotti has the charm of an ancient fishing village, surrounded by crystal clear waters among the most limpid in the region.
Per chi, oltre a godersi il mare, avesse voglia di camminare un po’, c’è un sentiero immerso tra i pini marittimi, che porta alla St. Lorenzo’s medieval church.
Unico edificio rimasto di un antico insediamento monastico benedettino, la chiesetta merita una visita per la posizione a strapiombo sul mare, da cui godere di un panorama stupefacente.

Questa zona è infatti un paradiso per le attività outdoor, ed in particolare per chi ama la mountain bike, per la quale offre numerosissimi itinerari, apprezzati e conosciuti anche all’estero.

BORGIO VEREZZI – one of the most beautiful villages in the Riviera di Ponente
Borgio Verezzi takes its name from its two districts, Borgio on the sea and Verezzi on the hill.
As often occurs in Liguria, to enjoy the best views you need to climb …you are invited to discover Verezzi, with its 4 stone villages, joined by mule tracks and narrow streets, the famous creuze.
For a walk with incomparable view on the other hamlets and on the sea, start from “Crosa”.
Passeggiate tra i vicoletti in pietra e seguite la stradina che sale fino alle chiesette.
Troverete i resti di un raro esempio di mulino fenicio e di abitazioni neolitiche.
Scendete poi a “Piazza”, un gioiellino perfettamente conservato.
Percorrete i vicoletti fino a ritrovarvi in piazza S. Agostino, con la sua magnifica chiesetta e l’impareggiabile vista sul golfo.
Durante le serate estive, a rendere ancor più speciale questa contrada è il prestigioso festival teatrale che si tiene nella piazza, col cielo stellato ed il mare a fare da sfondo.
