An hour of hairpin bends slow drive is what separates Naples from the Amalfi Coast, ready to reveal its magnificent landscapes by surprise.
Even before you reach Amalfi, view glimpses deserve some stops on the edge of the road: rocks similar to the Faraglioni of Capri, small villages clung on the cliff, ancient convents transformed into luxury hotels and hidden beaches with the most clear waters.
If you arrive in the afternoon, after a stroll in the village to enter into the spirit of the place, you could stop at Marina Grande for dinner, a nice restaurant on the beach where you can enjoy a tasty fish menu, lulled by the sound of the waves.
A local traditional kitchen, with a contemporary creativity and presentation.
The Amalfi Coast is not famous for its nightlife, so go to bed early and take advantage of it by getting to the beach early morning, some baths have comfortable padded couches that invite you to continue on relaxing.
Or take a boat from the harbor up to Santa Croce beach, reachable in a few minutes by sea. The water is limpid and the food also worthy.
In the afternoon be tourists… Taste the limoncello from a small shop near the public square, where they produce it just for a small distribution, bring some home as a souvenir. Then visit the Duomo.
Or sit down at Caffé Francese, just in front of the church, to watch the pairs of honeymooners that are photographed in their wedding day …because here couples from all over the world come to get married. Such a beautiful place, can you blame them?
For dinner book a table at Donna Stella, sit outside in the lovely lemons garden, try the arancini to begin (it’s hard to find so good ones) and then enjoy the true Neapolitan pizza.
One day could be dedicated to Ravello, you will have to face other hairpin bends but the view from the Sightseeing Tour red bus will fascinate you.
Get lost between the streets and the panoramic gardens and, if you didn’t find the tickets for a jazz concert (Ravello is the “city of music”), go back to Amalfi and dine by Da Gemma, impeccable service and high quality cuisine.
To conclude, a romantic evening stroll among the alleyways …by night, in the light of the lanterns, they evolve a magical charm.
